Prescription Policy
At Millson Veterinary Services, we prioritize the health and safety of your pet. When medications are dispensed directly through our hospital, we are able to ensure proper dosing, storage, and administration.

We are required by the College of Veterinary Medicine:

Have examined your pet within the last year for any over-the-counter medication.

A recent examination has been performed for the current issue.

Medication can only be dispensed at the doctor's discretion; staff members are not authorized to prescribe or modify medications.

Our goal is always to ensure your pet receives the safest and most effective treatment. Please allow 24-48 hours for completion of your prescription. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
External Pharmacy Requests

If you choose to have a prescription filled through an external pharmacy or website, please note the following:

Prescription Fee – A prescription processing fee of $20.00 will apply for each request to cover the time and resources required to review, approve, and submit prescriptions to outside pharmacies.

No Refills – Prescriptions sent to outside pharmacies will not include refills. Each request will require a new prescription. This policy is in place because we cannot monitor how the medication is administered or stored.

Ongoing Care – For your pet’s safety, rechecks or follow-up examinations may be required prior to authorizing additional prescriptions.
